The Children Act 1989 puts a duty on Local Authorities, as corporate parents, to promote children’s physical, emotional and mental health and act on any early signs of health issues.
Some of our children at ISP have health problems because of historical neglect and abuse and having missed routine appointments. We work with the Local Authorities and the NHS to ensure that our children are able to access local services, and that their health needs are met.
For information about health policies and procedures for children in foster care, see our Foster Carer Handbook.
